AI-Sight at the Liverpool AI Summit - Professor Simon Harding on stage
On Thursday, 21 November, AI-Sight joined global technology leaders like IBM and Microsoft at the inaugural Liverpool City Region AI Summit.
AI-Sight’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Simon Harding joined the panel for the showcase session on “AI for Good”, highlighting the significant advances in AI technologies for enhancing health delivery and outcomes worldwide. He focused on the potential for AI to address the significant strain on clinical and diagnostic services to diagnose existing diseases, let alone implement preventative screening programmes, which are critical to improving health outcomes and ensuring diseases are treated long before they become chronic and life-limiting.
Professor Harding and Professor Elizabeth Maitland, AI-Sight’s Chief Operating Officer, were also interviewed by BBC Radio at the event, speaking to the role AI-Sight is playing in the rapidly growing health sciences and technology sector in Liverpool.
This sector was praised by the event’s keynote speaker, Dr Nicola Hudson, CEO for IBM UK and Ireland, who observed that “with a 20% growth rate, Liverpool is the fastest-growing city economy in the UK – and this area is well set to become a leader in responsible AI.”
Dr Hudson further argued that we are in ‘one of the most transformational periods in human history’ in which ‘tech is moving faster than it ever has, but slower than it ever will’.
AI-Sight was proud to be part of the Summit and being part of what Dr Hudson described as a world “moving from AI hype to AI reality”.
